BE LIKE ALEX!

BE LIKE ALEX! ALEX cares so be like ALEX! Alex is an African grey parrot in my compound. Often times, in my room, I would overhear Alex talk and I would look forward to not only overhearing it talk but to actually see and hear it talk to me. So, every time I passed by it, I would always make some friendly gestures, say a hello or just smile at it and every time I got disappointed. My hopes of it talking to me began to fade until one day... I was so lost in my thoughts and my spirit was somewhat down, I walked briskly past Alex oblivious of its presence, suddenly I heard 'How are you?'. I looked around but didn't see anyone except Alex the parrot who I had just noticed. Oh!it just spoke to me! I exclaimed, I could hardly curtail the excitement in me. After some seconds of some expressive excitement, I realized I had not even answered the question. 'Oh Alex, I'm fine', I said smiling as I bent towards it , 'I'm actually not, I wish I could

I see it everywhere, every time, in people, in seasons, in time, in the seen and the unseen... I see a GAP Between the rich and the poor                  the young and the old                  the learned and unlearned                  the child and the adult  ...there is a GAP Between yesterday and today                 today and tomorrow                 my dreams and reality                 my past and my present                 my present and my future ...there is a GAP Between life and death                 success and failure                 mediocrity and excellence                 the truth and a lie                 foolishness and wisdom ...there is a GAP Between mortality and immortality                 birth and death                 heaven and earth                 heaven and hell                 eternal life and eternal damnation ...there is a GAP Jhummieooz's musing ...

I walked past the array of several beautiful white and red items, still trying to find the most beautiful gift I could get for him, my love. A red rose? A box of chocolate? Cup cakes?  A bottle of wine? A teddy? ... Hmmm, they all seem  nice enough but I still was confused. After picking and putting back few items, I got tired of trying to make the decision alone. So, I turned to ask my best friend who was quietly watching my confusion, 'What do you think?'  I asked After what seemed like a long pause, bestie asked, 'Why are you getting him a gift?' Irritated by the question, 'because it's VALENTINE!' I blurted. 'What a question', I wondered as I walked away from him towards a big white teddy that had  'I LOVE YOU' inscribed on it. Then the voice came again (bestie's), 'You need me to help you make a very good choice you know'. 'Then help me out' I said wearily. 'Jhummie, I don't think he'll l

What Do You Have?

Exodus 4:1-2 2.  And the Lord said unto him (Moses) , ' What is that in thine hand ?' And he said, 'A rod'. 2Kings 4:1-2 Elisha asked the window, “ Tell me, what do you have in the house ?” “Nothing at all, except a small jar of olive oil,” she replied. Sometimes, we don't know how great that 'small' substance we have is until we put it to use. Moses' rod might have looked ordinary, but it did wondrous things (parted the red sea, brought forth water from a rock, turned into a serpent, was a mighty instrument during the plagues) Remember the widow with a 'small' jar of oil, I am very sure she didn't know that her 'small' jar of oil could fill several bigger jars until there were no more jars. The gift that seemed to be the source of Joseph's predicaments was the same that brought him out of prison and in turn made him the prime minister. The moral here is that you might not know how great the gift of God might t

TO THESE LOVELY PEOPLE, THE A-TEAM, I LOVE YOU

Life is in phases People are in colours We meet and then part ways Some are meant to be together Some, to part ways I never realized how spending About 750 hours of my life with you Could be of so much impact I can only wish we would stay together forever But life's roles have to be played out At this phase of my life, I met you all, and now, Some of you, I'll leave Some memories are never fading No, not with me As we journey through life And we become part of other families We will come to realise that our presence In these different families will make those Families intertwine To some of you, I got the chance to say these words, To others, I didn't But, to all of you, I mean them These words that will never change Now, if this is the only chance I have, I'll say I LOVE YOU To the A-TEAM, The team that strove to make it through The team that remained unified Even to the very end I am honoured

INTIMACY WITH GOD USING THE 5 LOVE LANGUAGES

It is always such a blessing to sit under the ministration of one my mentors (some of my friends must have heard me talk about her) Pastor Damilola Otolorin. Last Sunday was really great as she preached on 'Intimacy With God' and she explained how we can use the Five Love Languages to build a very intimate relationship with God. I'll just share my little understanding of the message.     Intimacy is a close, familiar, personal, usually affectionate relationship with a deep knowledge or understanding with an entity.     God created us in His image and that explains why the love languages are also applicable to getting intimate with God. In no particular order, here are the 5 love languages and a little bit on how to use them to get closer to God. 1. QUALITY TIME : How much time do you spend fellowshipping with God? Is it just the daily routine morning and sometimes, evening prayers? Is it just on Sundays at church? Why not spend more time in worshipping God, studying
